About the Club

Rules for Fishing

The Needham Sportsman's Club is a fly fishing club in Needham, MA. We have a secluded fishing pond on four acres of private land mile from the center of town. Members are from all walks of life, ages, and flyfishing experience. Our monthly meetings are held in our own clubhouse, at the pond edge, September through June on the third Thursday at 7:30 PM. The pond is stocked twice a year with several hundred rainbow, brook and brown trout. Other than a few days after each stocking, fishing is year-round (sorry, no ice fishing).

  • Fly Fishing only

  • Catch and Release

  • Barbless or crimped hooks only

  • No more than one hook may be attached to the line

  • Fishing from the shore only - no boats, floats, or wading

Club activities include monthly meetings, demonstrations and presentations by local experts, our presentations at local sites, assisting at the Needham recreation spring fishing derby, our own "opening day" festivities, and occasional trips.

An Adult Member may bring up to two guests at a time. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests. Members may not bring the same guest more than six (6) times per year. Junior members may not bring guests. A guest fee of $5 per guest per day is payable to the treasurer prior to the next General Meeting. No guests are allowed two weeks before through two weeks after Opening Day, spring and fall. Members immediate family members may be guests (must be accompanied by member) at any time without fee.
